Why we started
We started Hushfern because of one very loud pair of clippers.
Our first attempt at cutting our daughter's hair happened on the bathroom floor with a pair of clippers borrowed from her grandfather. The noise terrified her before the blade ever touched her hair. We spent forty minutes on something that should have taken two, and we both ended up in tears — her and me.
When we went looking for something better, the market split in two. Cheap clippers that were loud, plasticky and impossible to clean, or salon-grade tools designed for adults and priced for professionals. Nothing was built for the actual problem: a small person who is frightened of noise, and a parent who has never done this before.
So we built it. QuietClip is quiet because it had to be. It vacuums clippings because we were tired of finding hair in the carpet. It has rounded blades and three simple lengths because we're parents, not barbers.

Yes. Fine baby hair is drawn into a chamber behind the blade as you cut — which is exactly the hair that normally ends up in your baby's neck folds and across your floor. Long adult hair can occasionally wrap the head, so empty the chamber more often if you use it on yourself.
Twist off the blade head, tip the clippings into the bin, and rinse the head and chamber under a running tap. The body is water-resistant but not designed to be submerged, so keep the charging port dry and give it a wipe rather than a soak.
